Project overview
McCormick Construction was brought on to demo one of Rahr’s existing kilns, install a replacement, update air paths and revise rooftop access/roofing materials.
Deliverables
Our team used safe dismantling techniques to demo an existing kiln from the malthouse rooftop, including appropriate disposal of all materials. In order to provide updated airflow into the new kiln, we changed the openings within the malthouse, cutting, forming, reinforcing and pouring new openings and roof supports for the existing fans and the new kiln. A revised access to the rooftop also allowed for seamless accessibility to the new kiln. Additional deliverables during the project included installation of new roofing compound to insulate and weatherproof the new roof and new metal sheets installation in the return air shafts feeding air to the new kiln. The team delivered all of the work in a very tight property area, many times working at significant heights.
