Our leadership

Mark Schmid
CFO and Shareholder
With over 30 years of experience in accounting with a primary focus in the manufacturing and construction industries, Mark has been a valued part of the McCormick team since 2006. He has served in several capacities for the company including accounting, operations and business development before moving into his current role as Co-CEO. Mark has both AS and BS degrees in accounting and holds active CPA, CCIFP and CFMA licensures.

Dan Shefland
COO and Shareholder
Dan started with McCormick in 1997 and has been heavily involved in all facets – from project design and layout to estimating and project management. His 30+ years of industrial construction extensive experience in CAD, facility design and operations provides significant value to the day-to-day operations of McCormick. Dan has degrees from Dunwoody College of Technology and Purdue University in building construction, drafting and estimating, as well as facility planning and design.

Bryan Platisha
Director of Pre-Construction Services
Starting with McCormick Construction in 2020, Bryan brings with him more than 18 years of experience as a senior process designer. He moved quickly from a project manager into his leadership role in business development with McCormick building successful relationships with customers, vendors and partners. He has a strong background in the design industry with experience in CAD, construction drawings and estimating. Bryan has an AAS in architectural drafting and estimating from Dunwoody College of Technology.

Josh Schummer
Director of Construction Services
With over 18 years of experience at McCormick Construction, Josh has expertise across a wide range of construction services. From his first position in dirt work excavation to his current role as Director of Construction Services, Josh has continuously evolved within the company. His career includes significant roles as a crane operator, millwright, superintendent and general superintendent, where he leads teams to execute large-scale projects with precision and efficiency.

Megan Russ
Director of Human Resources
Megan provides over 16 years of experience in human resources management within both the manufacturing and construction industries to the McCormick team. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of HR functions including employee relations and performance management, safety and compliance, labor relations, employee engagement, insurance and open enrollment, recruitment and onboarding. Megan holds a degree in business administration with a focus on HR management from the University of St. Thomas.
